Wednesday evening and a blizzard sweeps across southern Finland. 400 km to the north-west Dr. John has just spoken at a small congregation in Vaasa. Everyone has long since gone home, only Ann-Charlotte Rönnqvist, Dr. Anna-Liisa Punto and the missionary doctor remain to continue their conversation.

Ann-Charlotte Rönnqvist spent thirteen years of her life at the mission hospital in Shell, Ecuador, returning to Finland in 1998 just as the Johns were beginning their ministry there. “Ann-Charlotte, would you like to serve at a mission hospital again, this time in Peru?” The question strikes home and you can see it working in the Finnish nurse.
Thursday afternoon: In a church in Helsinki, Dr. John speaks at length about Diospi Suyana with Dr. Vilho Kivikangas, who was celebrated in TIME magazine in October 2004 as one of the heroes of Europe. The “man of good will” initiated and developed medical projects in Russia and even in N. Korea as an expression of Christian love and has plenty of advice for his visitor from Germany (Peru).
“It was a great honor to meet you!” says the German-Peruvian and disappears through the door into Finland´s ice cold winter.
