Rixdorf Christmas market – a record-breaking event

And Diospi Suyana present for the 10th time

Last night Dörte Bishop sent us a short summary of the 51st Rixdorf Christmas Market from Diospi Suyana’s perspective. A few days ago a sum of over 16,000 € was transferred. It is hard to imagine how much time, energy and creativity these 55 supporters of our mission have invested. Here are the facts:

The 51st Alt-Rixdorf Christmas Market

– The 51st Rixdorf Christmas Market was organized by the Berlin Neukölln district office. It offered non-profit organizations a special three-day forum. On the 2nd weekend of Advent, tens of thousands of visitors came to the 113 stalls.
– Dörte Bishop and her volunteers took part in the Christmas market for the 10th time. Started in 2014 (2-year break during the pandemic). The stand was very centrally located by the stage.
– Around 55 helpers (45 at the stand and 10 in production) went above and beyond. The number of hours worked is beyond belief. Dörte herself clocked up 28 hours.
– The team included many volunteers from Berlin and Oranienburg. The employee who traveled the furthest came from Stuttgart. The youngest was 7 years old and the oldest 81.
– Some helpers were born in Iran, Turkey, India and Ukraine.
– Among other things, there were 1000 organic sausages on offer from the Mörl butcher’s shop in Gaußig (Saxony). In addition, 1,600 vegan sausages and 2,250 cups of mulled wine or children’s punch were sold.
– And once again, the crocheted strawberry hats and home-knitted socks were a real bestseller. The gingerbread handmade by Ukrainian refugees tasted particularly delicious. Three sisters and their husbands, who all have something to do with the Böttger family, were at the forefront of the organization team.

From Curahuasi, Peru, we say from the bottom of our hearts: “Thank you!” And very secretly (we don’t want to be impertinent) we hope for a continuation in the Advent season 2026. You 55 are the best! /KDJ
