Retreat of the volunteers

A productive time in the sacred valley of the Incas

This joint weekend of volunteers was overdue. After a long break due to the pandemic, missionaries and children spent motivating hours in a quiet house in the Urubamba Valley. The theme was “Eben Ezer – up to here God has helped us!” Based on a story from the Book of Samuel, the presentations centered on God’s faithfulness in the past and our trust in God in the future. Peruvians Jorge and Nelsa Zolezzi spoke about the development of Christianity in Peru and our mission to actively live the faith.

The Mission Hospital celebrates its 15th anniversary at the end of August. Looking back, it becomes clear that trust in God is not a cheap buzzword. We Christians are not concerned with wild fantasies in a religious parallel universe, but with real facts.

The highlight was certainly the communion service yesterday morning. The last song, which has made it to over 200 million views on Youtube, aptly described our conviction: He is the water that quenches our thirst for life. Jesus Christ is enough!

A senior health ministry official remarked in a conference a few days ago, “We are often told that God is a concept from the past. But at Diospi Suyana, faith is alive. It even seems like an island of faith to me!” The official had understood the vision of Diospi Suyana.

What faith has been doing at Diospi Suyana for years has gained the recognition of the population, the mass media and high politics. /KDJ
