Rallye Dakar 2018 – fundraising for Diospi Suyana

In four days the absolute motorsports’ classic starts in Lima

This Saturday in the Peruvian capital 332 motorbikes, quads, cars and trucks will wait for the starting-shot of the 40th Rallye Dakar: competing to arrive first after travelling 8,793km through Peru, Bolivia and Argentina are carmakers Peugeot, Mini, Toyota, KTM and Honda.

Dr Tobias Thorban (above left), who works at the Herzog Elisabeth Krankenhaus in Melverode, heads the 100-man-strong Mini X-Raid team.  Spurred on by Tobias’ participation the hospital wanted to support a charitable project in Peru; it chose the Hospital Diospi Suyana in Curahuasi. On 29th December the Braunschweiger Zeitung reported that the first monetary donations and donations in kind have already been promised.

Diospi Suyana cordially thanks Dr Thorban and the Herzog Elisabeth Krankenhaus for this media-effective fundraising.
