As always at Diospi Suyana
Dear Diospi Suyana friends, Christian Heuchert, my successor as construction manager, landed safely in Curahuasi at the weekend with his wife Gudrun. Until my departure on April 30th I will familiarize Christian with the building project, the workers and the work processes which are unusual for German conditions.
The rainy season is not over yet and a few rainy days are currently hampering the progress of the earthworks and foundation work. The mud is then a centimeter thick on rubber boots and wheelbarrow wheels.
All 25 foundation pits have been excavated down to load-bearing soil and filled with lean concrete up to the lower edge of the foundation. The first three individual foundations have been reinforced and concreted. In rainy weather, we have the option of pre-fabricating reinforcement cages and support connection bars for the foundations under the roof.
Down in Lucmos on the festival campsites, the pressure is now increasing every day until the festival. The first 40 or so tents have been erected on the upper site and the gardeners are mowing the lawns like world champions.
The extension to the middle campsite still looks wild and the subcontractor still needs to step up a gear. The grass, cut grass patches measuring approx. 30 x 30 cm, has already been delivered.
The tilers are working at full speed in the leisure center and a subcontractor is installing the ceiling cladding in the large conference room.
Best wishes and a blessed weekend, Udo
