Media Centre – all hands on deck

At three locations

A team of four left by car yesterday morning at 6:15a.m. and reached our aerial tower, near the large city of Puerto Maldonado, in the rainforest 12 hours later.  Repairs need to be done after a lightning strike.  On the journey eastwards the road went over a high mountain pass.  Hard work on the devices is currently being done in scorching heat.

In the city of Sicuani our member of staff Isaac Panez had to walk 10km uphill before 6a.m. (mototaxis took him part of the way) in order to manually switch on the equipment.  On Monday the State Electricity Company will connect our electricity cables to the mains.  The hurdles that Diospi Suyana has had to overcome in Sicuani over the last two years could fill a whole book.

A tree was felled yesterday in Curahuasi.  Through its growth over the past years our electricity cable went directly through several branches.  The project could be completed successfully.
