Looking For New Ideas In Lima

While some staffers of the missionary hospital participated in the Curahuasi parade, a team of five Diospi Suyana members traveled to the Peruvian capital Lima.

Dr. Dorothea Brady, Damaris Haßfeld, our teacher Lilli Warkentin, Dr. Kemmler and Dr. John visited two schools to hear about their experiences and tap into their learnings.

The Colégio Alexander von Humboldt, supported through German taxpayer money, serves the children of German expatriate families as well as children of the Peruvian upper class.

The Colégio Johannes Gutenberg, on the other hand, serves poor children of the El Agustino neighborhood. For about 40 years, this school has been offering underpriviliged kids an excellent education. The school finances its programs mainly through sponsors from Germany as well as a small fee that each family has to contribute itself.

At the end of the day, the team from Diospi Suyana was very excited: With God’s blessing, we could achieve so much in Curahuasi, combining solid planning, hard work and lots of enthusiasm.
