Just like in the old days: Engineer Udo Klemenz writes a construction report

The Diospi Suyana School on course for growth

Dear Diospi Suyana friends, it is a great pleasure for me to be back in Curahuasi for a few weeks to help with the new construction activities at Diospi Suyana. In the three quarters of a year of my absence a lot has happened on the building sites and I am thrilled with how the construction of the recreation center in particular has developed.

As already reported several times in the “News”, the construction of two further school buildings and various sports facilities is planned on an area of approx. 3,800 m² below the existing Colegio. In the course of April, I will hand over the construction management to my successor Christian Heuchert.

Last week, we removed the topsoil from the construction site and leveled it to foundation level. Unfortunately, it is still raining almost every day, so the earthworks are a challenge.

In the meantime, a shed for cement and small tools was built, material for concrete production was brought in and a water connection was installed.

The first four individual foundations were excavated by hand and the lean concrete was poured as a soil replacement due to the poor subsoil.

As the work on the festival site has not yet been fully completed, we are still working with a reduced construction team on the school construction site for the time being.

Best wishes from Curahuasi. Udo
