Eyes fixed on the reaching the goals
Dear Diospi Friends, yearly on 24th June the Inti Raymi Festival is celebrated in the Peruvian Andes and especially in Cusco. This religious ceremony that “honoured the sun” was the most important festival for the Incas. The weather played its part for this year’s Inti Raymi: the sun shone in a deep-blue, cloudless sky. But the temperature has also cooled down: on Tuesday morning my thermometer read +4°C!
Have finished the second construction stage of the roof we have concreted all supports in this area. The next load of bricks has been delivered to the building site and is lying on the roof ready to be put in place. In the carpentry workshop that is located upstairs in the hospital two people are making the formwork for the binding joists for the upper floor.
The rest of the team is helping laying and twisting the ceiling reinforcement.
This morning we started concreting the last section of the ground floor ceiling including the access stairwell. The cubage of concrete is not the large as the former and so we expect to easily finish everything by close of business today.
The painter has his work cut out in the new operating theatres. In the carpentry workshop work has started making the two doors for the operating theatre. Rumour has it that the Peruvian Minister of Health is planning a visit: that is a further reason to quickly finish the operating theatres.
Saturday is the San Pedro y San Pablo bank-holiday which means that we can enjoy a normal weekend once again.
Sending you cordial greetings from Curahuasi, Udo.
