Peru’s current political situation is saddening
The head of Peru’s Catholic Church spoke clearly during the mass to mark the national holidays.
The cardinal said: “A large part of the country’s national ruling class lives on the backs of the majority and only pursues its own interests. The people feel that only a few (of the decision-makers) are acting out of a vocation to serve. A mafia-like spirit is making itself felt!”
According to a survey by the market research institute CPI, 97% of Peruvians are currently dissatisfied with their president, Dina Boluarte. At the end of May, people’s dissatisfaction with Congress stood at 93%.
Although crime in the major cities is out of control, parliament has passed a series of laws that further weaken the fight against organized crime. According to Human Rights Watch, the independence of judges and public prosecutors has been further restricted.
Where people doubt that they will one day have to give an account of their actions to God, the common good suffers. According to atheists, man is the measure of all things. A universe without meaning and purpose calls everything we do into question. And according to the philosophical meaning of the theory of evolution, only the right of the strongest wins in the end.
