Moving words and moving scenes. This Sunday morning the Diospi Suyana community bid farewell to Udo and Barbara Klemenz after 2.5 years spent here in Curahuasi overseeing the construction of the hospital.
Stefan Hoefer did the preaching in the morning service. The theme is best described in having courage for the Klemenz’s starting anew their life in Germany and for those of us staying behind to continue the work of the hospital.
Afterwards a barbeque held in the front entrance of the hospital offered the Klemenz’s one final look at the breath-taking mountain views of Peru.
The afternoon program began with a rap song and several dramas by the missionary children. Martina John and Michael Moerl finished the program with a video in which many Curahuasinos took the opportunity to give a final word of farewell to the Klemenz’s.
The presence of Udo and Barbara here in Curahuasi was an all-round good thing. We give our heart-felt thanks to them and of course, to God who sent them both to us. We will miss Udo and Barbara very much.
The songwriter Manfred Siebald once wrote, “Christians never say goodbye forever. If we don’t meet again on this earth, we will certainly see each other with HIM!”
