Life and death – two extremes


The scales tell the things as they are

They are lying in the same children’s ward of the hospital.  On the right a five-day-old baby is moving about in the incubator.  The scales show 3.6kg – totally normal for a baby that age.  On the left Dr Martina John is examining a five-year-old, which weighs 3.7kg – an unbelievable result, which is shattering at the same time.  We start to look into the reasons and find out more about the family.  Two Indian children living in Southern Peru: one will live, the other may die.
