From a farmhouse to the intensive care station

A close-run thing

Everyone knows him in his village near Andahuaylas.  David P.* is popular and with his 39 years full of energy.  But then the downward spiral starts.  Headaches, bouts of weakness and fever.  When he finally, with a few detours, arrives at the missionary hospital he quickly has 3 diagnoses in his medical record:  prostatitis, colitis and a lung infection.

Both lungs are severely affected by the inflammation.

Sunday evening: anaesthetist Dr Natascha Lopata (right), Dr Martina John (left) and nurse Janet examine the patient.  Fortunately the intensive care treatment – including ventilation – seems to work.  Let us hope that his family and our members of staff will be able to breathe a sigh of relief in the next few days.
