From a call from Ayacucho to Germany

Up to a baby incubator in Peru with money from the U.S.

We live in the age of globalization. Supply chains, decision-making paths and production facilities are often far apart, yet in reality they are closely linked.

December 2021 shortly before Christmas. My wife and I spent a few days in Ayacucho in the southern highlands of Peru. Actually we had a week’s vacation, but on several days we drove through the mountains on the outskirts of the city looking for an adequate place for a Diospi Suyana transmitter.

One morning shortly after brushing her teeth in her hotel room, a call took place with the Aumund Foundation in Germany. This foundation had sponsored three new ventilators for the intensive care unit at the hospital during the pandemic. The telephone conversation was short and to the point: “We could still support Diospi Suyana through the Aumund Corporation in the USA with a certain amount of money “X”. What do you need?”

The amount of money was transferred promptly and invested immediately. Hissin Medizintechnik GmbH, which has generously supported Diospi Suyana since 2009, made us a phenomenal offer for the purchase of a special transport incubator for newborns. In the last container the good part arrived at the hospital. Pit Werner’s pictures show that everything fits like a glove.

So we thank the Aumund Foundation and the Aumund Corporation. We give a “thumbs up” to Hissin GmbH in Oberursel. And we pat Tobias Lächele (Medical Technology Diospi Suyana) and Pit Werner (Workshops) on the back so appreciatively that it already hurts. They have rendered outstanding services in the implementation of the project.

And what did this purchase actually cost? The amount was in the five-digit range. However, we want to maintain confidentiality and anyway adhere to the saying, “You don’t talk about money, you have it!” At Diospi Suyana we would modify this statement a bit: “You don’t talk about money, God has it!”/KDJ
