Record levels reached in February
The National Meteorological Institute SENAMHI (Servicio Nacional de Meteorología e Hidrología del Perú) has urged the Peruvians to take precautionary measures. For the month of February the UV-Index for Peru’s southerly regions is forecast to reach 20. An index value of 6-7 is deemed high (protection is necessary), 9-10 is very high (further protection is needed and spending time outside should be avoided), 11-20 is extremely high and is dangerous: skin and eyes can be burnt.
