Power outages in many parts of Apurimac State
An explosion in Abancay’s electricity works yesterday, Saturday, caused power outages in many of Apurimac’s provinces. The fire brigade arrived at 3:30p.m. to fight the flames. For sixteen hours now (it is currently 2p.m. Central European Time) parts of the provinces of Abancay, Curahuasi, Andahuaylas and Chincheros have been without electricity. Last night it was pitch black and deadly silent in Curahuasi.
The Hospital Diospi Suyana has an emergency power generator which ensures that all departments can continue to function during power cuts.
