All mountains are not equal
Since September, the intensive care nurse Esther Scheier has been working at Diospi Suyana Hospital. It was not an easy decision for the young woman from Austria to leave her family. Her home village of Montafon is located in the mountains of Vorarlbergs. During her free time she enjoyed hiking in the beautiful mountains. And in the winter she would go skiing on the picturesque slopes.
An elderly lady told her about Diospi Suyana three years ago, but Esther was not particularly interested. Why should she leave her home that she liked so much. But the issue of “Diospi Suyana” appeared again and again in her life. Finally, she accepted the challenge. She got her suitcases out and packed her things. It was certainly not the desire for an adventure in the Andes that motivated her. When Esther Scheier now manages critical care patients in Curahuasi, she is interested in something else. She wants to serve God and the people of Peru.
