An interesting correlation between going to church and political interest

And we were always led to believe, it was the other way round

According to an INSA-Study, commissioned by the “Bild” Newspaper, only 1 in 5 Germans (21%) will go to church this Christmas. Furthermore, this study discovered that those interested in politics are also more interested in the “Christian Faith” than those not politically interested. Adding numbers to facts this equates to 30% of the former citizens will attend church compared to 8% of the latter citizens, i.e. those not politically interested.

“The correlation between going to church and political interest is highly significant,” says INSA-CEO Hermann Binkert. “The citizens who do not care about the last questions of life, i.e. faith, also do not care much about the penultimate questions of life, i.e. worldly issues or politics, either.” The answers of 2,013 citizens, who were asked between 8th and 11th December, made up this representative survey. Did not the new atheists like Richard Dawkins always profess that the more educated the citizens became and the more their horizons were broadened, the more these people would pack up their faith in a box in the attic. This survey appears to prove them wrong.

The picture above shows a scene from a morning service in Diospi Suyana’s hospital church. In the past few years half a million people (patients, their families and their relatives) have attended our services. None of them were forced to enter the church and take part in the service. The overwhelming impression we gain is that the patients yearn for God and look to him for support. /KDJ
