Director Christian Bigalke, introduced in his multi-layered speech, the school in the context of the Peruvian past in which for centuries has been comprised of disadvantaged social groups. With respect to the other schools in town, he stressed the idea of partnership and cooperation.

Previously, the Drs John had explained after a brief review of the milestones of Diospi Suyana what faith in God meant for them, namely, hope, fulfillment of meaning and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They wished that students would learn more than just chemistry, physics and mathematics. Faith would offer them a perspective, to reach out to far beyond death.

Tanz der Kinder
School children are drawing with colorful flags. They welcomed the audience in Spanish, Quechua, English and German. The choreography of the children’s group was rehearsed by Sabine Oswald.

The various flags on the stage gave the ceremony an international flair. Of course, the Peruvian children make up the vast majority of the student stiff, but there are also boys and girls from Germany and the USA who attend classes.

The teachers introduced themselves and their subject in front of a humorous way. It was felt from them that they themselves feverishly awaited to the start of school on Monday. For some of them their job to work at the the Diospi – Suyana School meant a move from North to South Peru. Apart from the Peruvian educators, include teachers: Julianna Rolli (Hungary), Lilli Warkentin (Germany), Allison Care (USA), Verena Bigalke (Germany) as well as social worker Carolin Klett (German).

During the construction of the school, individuals and companies have shown an unprecedented commitment. This generous support was acknowledged gratefully in the program. The audience celebrated Udo and Barbara Klemenz with a standing ovation for their outstanding service. Dr. Klaus John described them as a living legend. In the hope they would return quickly to Curahuasi in future for projects for Diospi Suyana, they received a symbolic tinkered motorcycle. A big thank you was also given to the architects Tina and Cornelius Linder, who had created for free all plans during the entire construction phase. Martina John also recalled the invaluable contribution of the engineer Jürgen Engel.
