A thankful patient from Cusco State
Surely it was a long journey for Doña Justina. In the 200km roundtrip she had to survive countless bends. But for more than eight years now the old lady from Izcuchaca cuts absolutely no more corners when it comes to health issues. She waited patiently in the waiting room before being welcomed in the treatment room by Dr Martina John. Last year she invited the dear Doctora to her 100th birthday, which the founder of the missionary hospital was sadly unable to attend. It would have been a great honour to take part in such a special and rare celebration, but unfortunately one cannot attend every party.
Years ago surgeon Dr Hagen Bruder saved her life through an emergency operation. Without question the missionary hospital Diospi Suyana played an important role in the last ten years of the Quechua-Indian’s life. Her grandson accompanied her to her latest check-up on Friday. On parting she shook our hands warmly. And, as is her wont, she drove home happy and content. We wish her protection and health in her circle of loved ones.
