The summer break is almost over in Peru. And, as of this week, the 11 Diospi Suyana Children’s Clubs are back in session. Like in previous years, this news was announced all through Curahuasi. 300 invitations were passed out and those who can’t read could hear the news via megaphone.
The Children’s Clubs are an integral part of Diospi Suyana’s mission. Here, boys and girls get special attention and support. They learn how to improve their behavior, they do arts and crafts projects, play and simply have fun with their peers. And, while doing so they learn an important message: God loves them.
Their home lives are often hard with many instances of domestic violence. Their upbringing is marked by their parents’ alcoholism, beatings and general apathy. That said, the Children’s Clubs offer these kids something incredibly valuable.
We are excited and happy that so many of our staffers volunteer their time to help prepare and run the Children’s Club classes
