City Mayor publicly takes the oath of office

The ceremony lasted three-and-a-half hours

Yesterday engineer Nestor Raul Jara was inaugurated as Curahuasi’s new mayor. After a church service in the Catholic Church the programme continued on the Plaza de Armas. The district’s highest dignitary swore with his left hand on the Bible in front of a crucifix to responsibly fulfil his tasks. He now has four years in which he can do what he promised he would during the election campaign.

After the usual hymns and speeches the delegations of many societal groups marched past the platform in order to pay their respects to the new district government.

Before his election victory Nestor Jara had visited the missionary hospital and had offered an amicable cooperation. Diospi Suyana wishes the new mayor success and God’s richest blessing.

The village communities pay their respects to the new city council.
Even a delegation from the taxi drivers marched in rank and file.
