Are they rash or Diospi Suyana staff?

Or perhaps even both!?

As foreigners our nurses Amelie Brücher and Henriette Söll need an official examination through Interpol’s office in Cusco.  The journey from Curahuasi to the old Inca capital should have lasted around 2.5 hours.  But a strike in Southern Peru lengthened the journey-time somewhat.  It must be credited to our two fellow-workers that they made it to their destination against the odds.  Above the two of them are standing in front of a burning street blockade.  In the background one can see strikers who are blocking the road.

The following picture is a short resumé of their adventure.  Asked whether they were frightened, Henriette answered: “Absolutely not!”

After…
… half an hour’s marching.
… a car-ride during which stones were thrown onto our vehicle.
… a journey with a lady sitting on my lap.
… three further hours of marching.
… a ride on the back of a lorry.
… a ride in a motor-taxi.
… a further 30 minutes of marching.
… and a lift in a mini-van.

  • We actually made it, with a mere three hour delay, to our appointment and thanks to the kind official we did get our documents!
(S)He who overcomes such hurdles could work as a reporter in any crisis area of our planet.
Amelie and Henriette holding the certificates of Interpol.  In the verification of their personal details neither bank-robbery, nor drug-dealing, nor murder were found.  We congratulate most cordially.
