The well and the bridge

Another week’s work has been completed

Dear Friends of Diospi Suyana, as I have already reported at a different juncture the well drilling near the Colegio was successfully completed.  The Peruvian drilling company has left us taking its heavy equipment away.  Now the wellhead has to be designed and the well needs to be connected up to and integrated into the existing water-supply system.  The shunting of the drilling unit in tight surroundings and the drilling itself naturally left several marks, which need to be put right.  For example the neighbour’s flattened animal fence was re-erected. We have cleaned, refilled and compacted the bentonite holes, have replaced the oil-contaminated soil and restored the footpath.

Breaking through the current roof presents us with quite a challenge in building the hospital’s emergency escape bridge, but we are sure we will find a solution.  One can start to see what it should look like.

In the meantime the material for the installation of the medical gases has arrived.  We hope that the company Oxitec will begin its work next week.  After that we can plaster the walls in which the supply points for oxygen, the pressurized and the vacuumed air are found.

With best regards from an unusually warm, dry and dusty Curahuasi, Udo.
