An Eventful Week in Lima

Monday, November 14, 2005 : Dr. John presents the hospital project to the directors of the German-Peruvian Chamber of Commerce. The German Ambassador, Dr. Roland Kliesow, is also in attendance to back the missionary doctor.

Wednesday, November 16, 2005 : Presentation before the Board of Directors of Eternit. The directors decide to provide the roofing material for the mission hospital at a 30% reduced price. This decision will save Diospi Suyana up to US$ 8,000. (Previous photo).

Thursday, November 17, 2005 : Presentation at the Ministry of Health before a group of experts. Prof. Moises Acuna (center of photo), head of the Peruvian health program for the poor rural population is present. Result: a co-operation contract between the Ministry of Health and Diospi Suyana will commit the Peruvian Government to share in subsequent costs. The intention is for the contract to be signed in the coming 6 to 8 months. The agreement commits the Peruvian state to bear +/- 10% of the long-term operating costs of the hospital. (Photo 2).

Thursday, November 17, 2005 : Presentation before the management of Telefónica Perú. German Ambassador , Dr. Roland Kliesow (left of photo), is again present to support the Diospi Suyana cause. In his presentation Dr. John asks for 200 telephone lines on behalf of Diospi Suyana and the town of Curahuasi…. Telefónica Perú will examine the application and conduct a cost/benefit analysis. Friday, November 18, 2005 : Purchase of a vehicle for the hospital project. Since Diospi Suyana is a charity, Gildemeister Co. quotes a reduced price.
