Eight Young People With a Lot of Enthusiasm

From Chile and Paraguay

For the eight young people, it was a great wonder how they even got the money for their travel expenses.  For two weeks they will speak at the mission hospital and other local venues about their faith.  Yesterday during the morning service, they performed a skit to a full house about the original question of man: “How can I be happy.”

With one exception, they all come from Chile.  For 130 years there has been an unspoken hostility between Peru and Chile.  During the War of the Pacific (1879-1884) Bolivia lost its access to the Pacific and Peru lost some of its southern land to Chile.

At Diospi Suyana, this historical tension does not matter.  The Chilean speaks of a hope that has nothing to do with patriotism.  They trust that God holds their lives in His hands.  They sing, talk, and pray with a lot of enthusiasm, which is contagious.
