A quality treatment in the orthopedic workshop

Using the example of a young patient from Puno

Maria* knows how hard life can be. Her mother has been dead for a long time and she herself lost her right leg in a traffic accident. Not a good outlook for a schoolgirl of 16. Her prosthesis was made in the big city of Arequipa. But unfortunately, it didn’t fit well at all. The joint in the knee area was broken and an immovable piece of wood served as the foot. “Can’t anything be done?” she had asked a doctor in her hometown of Puno at one point: “Sure,” the medic had mumbled, “they could still cut something off your stump!” A strange answer that sent a shiver down her spine.

The stump of the right thigh

When her aunt accompanied her to Curahuasi to the Diospi Suyana Hospital, hope began to germinate for the first time. Master orthopedist Christian Haupt and his colleague Daniel Müller did a thorough job. Maria received a tailor-made product of the finest so from high quality materials.

It paid only about 5% of the real price. It is understandable that she was overjoyed when she went home. (*name changed)
