A patient and his wheelchair: both were very ill

At the Hospital Diospi Suyana Walter Huanaco enjoys the all-inclusive service package

Without a doubt Walter Huanaco has tried hundreds of times to get his head round the fact as to why on earth he fell off that roof.  Through the fall ten years ago he broke his spine and as a brutal consequence suffers from a permanent paralysis of his lower limbs.  Yesterday his wife and son brought him to the missionary hospital.  He himself was suffering from back pains and an underactive thyroid.  Dr Martina John was able to help him on both fronts.

“Doctora,” he quietly said to the missionary doctor and pointed to his wheelchair, “Can that be looked at too?”  The ravages of time had obviously gnawed away at his vehicle.  Wheels, upholstery and brakes needed urgent attention and it did not need a professional to recognise that the chair was in reality more than ripe for the scrap heap.  It was only a matter of minutes and the workshop team was on the case.

Don Cristobal and colleagues were able to transform three wheelchairs into one brand new model.  A good job and an impressive result.  When he saw Dr John that afternoon Walter could not contain his joy.  He received his mount as a present!  Now he can travel back to his village with his family.  One could say the staff at Diospi Suyana provided him with an all-inclusive service package.  “Hasta la próxima,” see you again, farewell!
