Lecture in the auditorium of the Peruvian Bible Society on the occasion of its 80th anniversary
The “Sociedad Biblica Peruana” celebrated its 80th anniversary and invited Dr. Klaus John to speak as a guest speaker on Monday morning. In the well-attended auditorium, the missionary doctor spoke about Diospi Suyana as an example of both word and deed. He explained that charitable work in the fields of medicine and education goes hand in hand with the proclamation of the faith. Following a panel discussion with six organizations on this integrated approach, the leadership of the Bible Society awarded Diospi Suyana a medal of honor. At the end of the event, an astonishing number of attendees purchased books about our mission’s journey of faith.
When the executive director of the Bible Society was asked about the number of Bibles distributed each year, Pastor Pablo Gutiérrez gave a stunning answer. “We sell 400,000 Bibles in the country every year!” — This means that in Peru, too, the Bible is by far the number one bestseller.
