Missionary doctors amongst themselves

Reinhard und Elisabeth slider

There is always something to talk about

It will be a long night tonight in the house of the missionary couple John.  Surgeon Reinhard Kühn has a lot to tell.  He is at the Hospital Diospi Suyana for his seventh stint and seven times he went to a missionary hospital in Ghana.  Following the big earthquake in Haiti he flew with an emergency-team to the Caribbean. He has theoretical and personal experience with Malaria.

Anaesthetist Elisabeth Stempel, who hails from Altenburg in Saxony, has again taken unpaid leave, to help Diospi Suyana’s narcotics department in an honorary capacity.  After the fall of the Berlin Wall she invested four years of her life to serve at a missionary hospital in Papua New Guinea in difficult conditions.

Reinhard and Elisabeth are fully aware of the fact that missionary doctors are not in it for the money, but for the deep inner satisfaction.  In an old book one can read: it is more blessed to give than to receive.  And that is why they will – as soon as possible – pack their bags and head again for Africa or South America.  They not only want to talk about the Christian Faith, they want to live it.  It goes without saying that their repertoire of exciting stories grows with each trip.
