Hazard – mountain slope

The Andes provide any visitor with a magical atmosphere, especially when the sun shines.  But this mountainous terrain is full of dangers for man and beast.  Julio Huamani* experienced this bitter truth last Sunday. The Quechua Indian was hit by a rock early in the morning and was knocked out immediately.  When he came to, he vomited.

At the missionary hospital John Lentink performed a CT-scan of his head.  The pictures clearly show the fractures of the frontotemporal skull.  In the below picture you can make out the bleeding.

In 2007 the Hospital Diospi Suyana was the first hospital in the State of Apurimac to be equipped with a computer tomograph.  To date two exist. (*not his real name)
