Isabella is our star of the week – very elegant in black and white

Diospi Suyana and a milk farm in Ratingen

For years now Family Maurer has been running the Milk Farm Karpenhaus.  They have been through thick and thin, from structural change to the milk price crisis.  Mechthild Maurer recently reported about something that happened in their stable – a story which shows just how the milk farmers are devoted to their animals and also which proves that we can involve God in all our everyday problems, even in the strangest life-scenarios.

“Recently our cow “Isabella” calved for the first time.  It was a difficult birth, because the calf was lying the wrong way round.  After my husband understood what was going on, he called our experienced vet.  For reasons unknown to us the calf could not be saved and due to its size Isabella had to be stitched up.  The vet asked us: “Do you want to bring her to the slaughter house tomorrow or should I stitch up the wound and hope that everything will work out okay?”  Giving us a sceptical look he added: “It’s a 50-50 chance!”

Exactly that evening our cell group met at our home.  My husband and I said: “sew and pray!”  That night and the following days we and our friends prayed intensely for our patient Isabella and sent so many prayers heavenwards that the roof of the cowshed was also knocking on heaven’s door!

The vet returned two days later and carefully enquired, whether the patient was still alive.  “Of course she is, we prayed for her!”  Isabella had survived without any inflammation or complication!”

Family Maurer are so delighted that they have decided to adopt a second child at Diospi Suyana.  Their financial offering comes solely from their thankfulness to God.  (Picture above: Isabella in all her glory)
